Conveyancing Secretary – Property Transfers

About the role

Our client, a leading property law firm located in Hyde Park, is seeking a motivated Conveyancing Secretary to support its transfer team. The role focuses on correspondent conveyancing work, offering exposure to full transfer processes and the chance to take on additional responsibilities as experience grows.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare deeds and related documentation for lodgement.
• Handle correspondent lodgements at the Pretoria Deeds Office.
• Assist with applications for rates clearance certificates and SARS transfer duty.
• Support senior conveyancing secretaries on transfer matters.
• Communicate with municipalities, SARS, Deeds Office, and correspondent firms.
• Maintain accurate filing, tracking, and record‑keeping of all matters.
• Run own transfer files from instruction through to registration.

Required profile

• Previous junior‑level experience in a conveyancing environment.
• Basic understanding of property transfer processes and Deeds Office procedures.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop within the conveyancing field.

Required skills

• Familiarity with conveyancing systems such as GhostConvey, Korbitec or Lexis Convey.
• Experience with Deeds Office lodgement and tracking processes.
• Knowledge of SARS eFiling and municipal online systems for rates clearance applications.
