Contract Manager – Road Maintenance Projects

About the role

Bantubani Group, a leading provider of routine road maintenance and construction services in South Africa, is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to oversee high‑value infrastructure contracts. The role involves leading project teams, managing subcontractors, and ensuring delivery against SANRAL specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Manage execution of Routine Road Maintenance (RRM) contracts in line with contractual requirements.
• Lead project teams, subcontractors, and site personnel to achieve safety, schedule, budget, and quality targets.
• Plan, schedule, allocate resources and monitor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Administer contracts according to SANRAL specifications, GCC, COTO/COLTO and related conditions.
• Track project costs, budgets, cash flow and prepare monthly payment certificates and progress reports.
• Serve as primary liaison with SANRAL, engineers, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Identify, assess and mitigate contractual, operational, financial and project risks.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety, environmental regulations and company policies.
• Conduct project meetings, technical reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and develop site agents and other project personnel.

Required profile

• BEng, BSc Engineering or BTech in Civil Engineering (NQF Level 7) or higher qualification.
• Active professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) or SACPCMP (Pr CM or Pr CPM).
• 5–10 years experience managing SANRAL road construction or routine road maintenance projects.
• Proven track record in contract administration, project management and cost control.
