Construction Surveyor – Civil

About the role

The Construction Surveyor will translate design drawings into precise on‑site set‑outs, establishing line and level control for civil works. After construction, you will measure completed works to produce as‑built records for payment verification.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings and benchmarks to set out daily targets for roadworks, earthworks, and pipe‑laying teams.
• Survey and measure excavations, stockpiles, pipework and roadworks for as‑built documentation and payment calculations.
• Verify accuracy of survey data through cross‑checks and calculations.
• Manage the performance of at least one pipe, roadworks, or earthworks team.
• Conduct grid surveys to determine volumes and usable material areas.
• Calibrate and adjust surveying instruments to maintain precision.
• Train and direct assistants and junior staff in surveying tasks.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related qualification.
• Minimum three years’ experience in civil construction surveying (roadworks, earthworks, pipe‑laying, township developments).
• Ability to work independently with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Capability to train junior staff.
• Valid driving licence.
