Construction Planner – Building Projects (Sandton)

About the role

An established building construction company based in Sandton is looking for an experienced Construction Planner to join its Gauteng operations. You will be responsible for creating, monitoring and reporting detailed construction programmes across multiple building projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed construction schedules from tender stage through to project completion using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Produce baseline, resource‑loaded and critical‑path programmes that align with contractual obligations and client requirements.
• Monitor progress against approved baselines, update schedules weekly and identify deviations.
• Conduct delay analysis, support Extension of Time (EOT) claims and recommend recovery plans.
• Generate weekly and monthly progress reports, executive summaries and look‑ahead schedules (2‑, 4‑ and 6‑week).
• Liaise with Project Managers, Site Agents, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, subcontractors and clients to ensure design information is incorporated and procurement is coordinated.
• Identify programme‑related risks, propose mitigation strategies and track key milestones throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience in construction planning and scheduling for building projects.
• Strong understanding of project controls, critical‑path management and earned‑value techniques.
• Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and communicate schedule information clearly.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk identification and recovery planning.
