Consignment Stock Controller – Theatre (Johannesburg)

About the role

A vacancy exists for a Senior Stock Controller (Theatre) at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Inventory Manager, the role ensures effective coordination of stock for all wards and theatres.

Key responsibilities

• Manage consignment and loan stock, including procurement, control and distribution of theatre supplies.
• Conduct stock‑takes, cycle counts and investigate variances to maintain accurate inventory.
• Monitor expiry dates, handle dead‑stock, short‑dated items and product complaints in line with protocols.
• Maintain asset security, minimise loss and oversee unreconciled invoices.
• Develop relationships with internal customers, resolve queries and support the LHC formulary implementation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification with at least 2 years’ experience in a theatre or pharmaceutical store environment.
• Proficiency in SAP and strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of inventory control processes, procedures and best practices.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and to overtime/weekends as required.
