Computer Operator – Operational Support

About the role

The Computer Operator is responsible for executing day‑to‑day operational processes, ensuring that all IT services and infrastructure meet defined performance targets. The role involves monitoring systems, handling incidents, and supporting production runs to keep the environment stable and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor operational performance and service quality, escalating incidents according to defined procedures.
• Identify and report business risks, collaborating with third‑party teams to meet service level agreements.
• Investigate alarms, events and system faults, taking prescribed corrective actions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date operational documentation, journals, and batch‑job records.
• Perform regular system checks, ensure scheduled tasks run on time, and verify infrastructure compliance with policies.
• Liaise with customers or management during failures and provide clear communication.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education; a relevant IT degree or diploma is advantageous.
• Driver’s licence.
• Experience or strong understanding of operational delivery, emerging technologies, and existing IT systems.
• Ability to follow procedures accurately and work in a customer‑focused environment.
