Compliance Officer and Legal Support - Property/Financial Services

About the role

Our client, a specialist finance and property funding advisor, is seeking a meticulous Compliance Officer with legal support responsibilities. The role combines regulatory compliance monitoring with hands‑on legal documentation for loan and security transactions in South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain monthly compliance registers for municipal rates, levies and insurance obligations.
• Monitor regulatory developments, prepare impact reports and ensure adherence to FICA, KYC, AML and POCA requirements.
• Conduct due‑diligence investigations including Deeds Office searches, PEP screenings, CIPC checks and credit assessments.
• Draft and issue instruction letters to attorneys, review commercial and bond documentation, and coordinate execution via DocuSign.
• Liaise with bond attorneys throughout registration processes to ensure timely completion.
• Maintain electronic client files, input data into loan management systems and prepare meeting agendas, board packs and minutes.
• Safeguard original loan agreements and security documents and respond to client inquiries.

Required profile

• Legal qualification (LLB) or equivalent with solid understanding of South African property law, company law and financial regulations.
• Proven experience in loan documentation and security registrations.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
