Compliance Manager – Retail Banking

About the role

The Compliance Manager will lead the development and execution of compliance risk management strategies for our Retail Bank. This role ensures that the bank adheres to all relevant regulatory requirements, including Regulation 49 of the Banks Act, and fosters a strong compliance culture across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design and embed operational processes that support compliance risk management.
• Monitor and enforce adherence to legislative and regulatory standards.
• Develop and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of local and global regulatory environments.
• Provide training and public speaking on compliance matters.
• Manage a compliance team, including budgeting and performance oversight.
• Utilise risk‑related software, particularly EXCLAIM, to track and report compliance activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a compliance role within banking or financial services.
• Proven experience managing a team (at least 2 years).
• Honours degree in Law or Commerce; postgraduate diploma in Business Management or Risk & Compliance is preferred.
• Strong understanding of legal issues, monitoring principles, and retail banking processes.
