Compliance and Risk Officer – Governance, Risk & Compliance

About the role

Oneplan Insurance is seeking a proactive Compliance and Risk Officer to strengthen its Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) function. You will ensure the organisation meets South African financial services regulations while supporting a customer‑centric culture.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with the FAIS Act, General Code of Conduct, Policyholder Protection Rules, POPIA and emerging COFI requirements.
• Maintain compliance registers, track regulatory deliverables and support audits and inspections.
• Identify, assess and monitor operational and compliance risks; update risk registers and mitigation plans.
• Conduct risk assessments, track Key Risk Indicators and support risk‑based governance across business units.
• Manage and investigate formal complaints related to FAIS, POPIA, PPR and conduct risk, ensuring timely resolution.
• Analyse complaint trends, promote Treating Customers Fairly outcomes and address systemic risk issues.
• Assist with incident and data‑breach management, including POPIA breach notifications and root‑cause analysis.
• Prepare compliance and risk reports for management and governance committees.
• Deliver compliance and risk awareness training and provide guidance on regulatory obligations.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability with a solid understanding of South African financial services regulatory landscape.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to work independently within a fast‑paced environment.
