Commodity Purchaser

About the role

SGD is seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Commodity Purchaser to ensure that strategic and operational purchasing activities align with the Global Management System (GMS). The role supports the supply‑chain function, drives improvement initiatives, and acts as the primary commercial contact for suppliers within the assigned product area.

Key responsibilities

• Assess purchasing requirements, determine scheduling, volumes and preferred suppliers.
• Evaluate proposals and select sourcing channels based on quality, specifications and total cost of ownership.
• Issue purchase orders, secure confirmations and monitor delivery status.
• Oversee shipping and receiving, resolve supplier, financial, warehousing and production queries.
• Maintain accurate ERP data on suppliers and purchasing activities.
• Monitor supplier performance, follow up on commitments and manage discrepancies.
• Provide timely reports and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in product development projects to ensure procurement considerations are integrated.
