Commercial Financial Controller

About the role

The Commercial Financial Controller provides financial leadership and commercial insight to the Sales function, combining finance, pricing, profitability management and data analytics to support strategic and operational decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Sales Director and commercial team to deliver financial insights on sales performance, pricing, margins and customer profitability.
• Manage pricing governance, develop pricing models and analyse gross profit across products, customers and channels.
• Prepare forecasts, budgets, management reports, dashboards and performance analyses.
• Design, maintain and enhance Business Intelligence dashboards and reporting solutions.
• Analyse large data sets, ensure data accuracy and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Support financial controls, audits and compliance with company policies.
• Monitor trade spend, rebates, customer claims and working capital to improve profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics or related field.
• Professional qualification such as CIMA, CA(SA), ACCA or equivalent is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial finance, financial analysis or controlling, preferably in FMCG.
• Proven experience supporting sales/commercial teams and working with budgeting, forecasting and profitability analysis.
• At least 3 years in a Business Intelligence environment using tools such as Qlik or Power BI.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 Suite.
• Strong SQL and MS SQL Server querying skills.
• Proficiency with BI tools (Qlik, Power BI) and dashboard development.
• Financial modelling and data visualisation expertise.
• Knowledge of ERP and accounting systems; familiarity with Meat Matrix is a plus.
