CNC Machinist – Johannesburg

About the role

Our client, a precision engineering company, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their Johannesburg facility. You will operate CNC lathes and milling machines to produce high‑quality components for a range of machines, instruments and tools.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC turning and milling equipment according to drawings and specifications.
• Monitor machine parameters, adjust feed rates and temperatures, and troubleshoot issues in real time.
• Measure and verify part dimensions using manual tools and a Computerized Measuring Machine (CMM).
• Perform secondary operations such as deburring, chamfering and polishing.
• Coordinate with the Technical Office to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines and tools.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment.

Required profile

• Trade Tested Fitter and Turner qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a precision engineering environment.
• Proven ability to program and operate CNC turning and milling machines.
• Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude.
