Cloud Infrastructure Architect

About the role

Our client in Isando is seeking a senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, deployment and optimisation of enterprise‑scale cloud solutions. The role combines strategic planning with hands‑on technical leadership across Azure, hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the organisation’s cloud strategy and multi‑year adoption roadmap.
• Design secure, scalable and resilient cloud architectures aligned with enterprise and cybersecurity standards.
• Oversee performance, scalability and cost optimisation of cloud workloads, including rightsizing and automation.
• Lead integration of cloud services with on‑premises infrastructure, driving hybrid and multi‑cloud strategies.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code solutions and promote DevOps practices across the infrastructure team.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting, incident resolution and cost‑optimisation guidance.

Required profile

• Matric plus NQF Level 7 qualification in IT, Computer Science or related field.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert and ITIL Foundation certification.
• 8–10 years experience in IT infrastructure and cloud roles, with at least 3 years in senior or architect positions.
• Proven track record designing and deploying enterprise‑scale Azure solutions and managing hybrid/multi‑cloud environments.
• Strong leadership in incident resolution, cost optimisation and governance.

• Microsoft Azure (architectural design, governance, security).
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools: Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins.
• Scripting languages: PowerShell, Python, Bash.
• Container technologies: Kubernetes, Docker.
• FinOps and cloud cost‑management practices.
• Networking and security concepts.
• DevOps and automation best practices.
