Cloud Engineer – Team Lead (Cape Town)

About the role

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to lead our cloud infrastructure team in Cape Town. The role combines hands‑on technical work with team leadership, focusing on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, networking and security solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the cloud engineering team and coordinate daily activities.
• Design, implement and maintain Azure AD, Azure AD Connect, application registration and SSO integrations.
• Manage Microsoft 365 services including MAM, MDM, Teams, Intune and Windows Virtual Desktop.
• Configure VPN, ExpressRoute and ensure secure network connectivity.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows OS upgrades and hardening.
• Apply networking fundamentals such as subnetting and VLAN configuration.
• Deploy and manage security platforms: Zscaler, Fortinet SASE, Netskope.
• Oversee backup solutions using Dell EMC Networker and Backup Exec.
• Implement security monitoring with Microsoft Purview and Defender.
• Maintain Nutanix hyper‑converged infrastructure (AOS, Prism) and perform performance tuning.
• Provide remote support, patching and monitoring through BCM client management and Helix.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading cloud or infrastructure teams.
• Strong background in Azure AD, Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts and security best practices.
• Hands‑on experience with Fortinet, Zscaler, Netskope and backup technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex cloud and on‑premise issues.
