Clinical Training Specialist (Qualified)

About the role

The Clinical Training Specialist will be based in the Theatre at Life The Glynnwood and will report to the Theatre Manager, Hermerne Cloete. The role focuses on managing continuing professional development, competency programmes and student clinical placements to ensure high‑quality nursing practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage CPD and other training programmes for qualified nurses.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor nursing competency requirements and risk‑based in‑service training.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and assessment to maintain clinical competence.
• Participate in incident investigations and hospital quality projects, offering feedback and corrective actions.
• Oversee internal and approved external student clinical programmes, including selection, administration and evaluation.
• Identify learning opportunities, facilitate clinical skills development and support student research projects.
• Promote the nursing profession through marketing initiatives and community events.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing with appropriate specialization.
• Post‑registration nursing experience in a relevant healthcare environment.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and status as a Registered Assessor.
• Proven clinical leadership expertise and knowledge of nursing legislation.
• Understanding of nursing education systems, change management principles and assessment methods.
• Valid driver’s licence.
