Clinical Training Specialist – General Units

About the role

The Clinical Training Specialist will be based in the General Units of Life Eugene Marais Hospital. Reporting to the Nurse Manager General, the role focuses on developing and delivering continuing professional development (CPD) programmes, competency training, and student clinical placements to ensure high‑quality nursing practice.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and monitor CPD and risk‑based in‑service training programmes for qualified nurses.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and competency assessments to nursing staff.
• Manage internal and approved external student clinical programmes, including selection, administration and evaluation.
• Participate in incident investigations, quality projects and provide corrective actions.
• Support students with research projects and identify learning opportunities for clinical skills development.
• Promote the nursing profession through marketing initiatives and community events.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and a Diploma/Degree in Nursing with relevant specialisation.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and status as a Registered Assessor.
• Post‑registration nursing experience in a comparable healthcare setting.
• Proven clinical leadership and knowledge of nursing legislation and education systems.
• Understanding of change‑management principles and strong facilitation/assessment abilities.
