Clinical Nurse Specialist – Medical Ward (Ward E)

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) on Ward E provides advanced nursing care to patients in the medical ward of Netcare N1City Hospital. Reporting to senior nursing leadership, the CNS acts as a clinical resource, educator and researcher, ensuring high‑quality, evidence‑based practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver advanced clinical care to complex medical patients, assessing and managing care plans.
• Provide expert consultation to multidisciplinary teams and serve as a knowledge hub for the specialty.
• Lead clinical teaching for staff and nursing learners, facilitating skill development and competency assessments.
• Initiate and support research projects aimed at improving patient outcomes and service delivery.
• Participate in leadership activities, including programme planning, policy development and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with specialist qualification or equivalent experience in a medical ward setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in advanced nursing practice, patient assessment and care coordination.
• Strong understanding of health‑care delivery systems and programme planning.
• Ability to mentor staff, teach learners and contribute to research activities.
