Clinical Nurse (R/N) – Experienced ICU

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (R/N) will provide expert, person‑centred care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit at Netcare Sunward Park Hospital. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating holistic nursing interventions for critically ill patients and their families. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and document individualized nursing care for ICU patients, acting as a clinical resource for the unit.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, allied health professionals and families, advocating for optimal outcomes.
• Initiate and manage emergency treatment (RESUS) across all hospital wards as required.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop and update nursing care plans, and evaluate patient progress.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development, quality and risk management, and ensure a safe environment.
• Facilitate education and training for nursing staff, students and patients, including emergency procedure drills.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Extensive knowledge of general and specialised nursing theory and practice, particularly in critical care.
• Demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and maintain high standards of patient safety.
