Clinical Facilitator (General Nursing)

About the role

The Clinical Facilitator will lead the training and development of nursing staff in both theoretical and practical settings. Working closely with the Nursing Services Manager, you will ensure high‑quality bedside teaching and support continuous improvement of patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate teaching and learning of theoretical and clinical components in a clinical environment.
• Provide bedside instruction through demonstration, job‑shadowing, role‑modelling and mentoring.
• Coordinate in‑service and formal training programs, both formal and informal.
• Support evidence‑based practice and encourage participation in research.
• Assess staff competence against standards and protocols.
• Plan, prepare, implement and manage education and training for new and redeployed employees.
• Design and deliver continuous professional development (CPD) programmes.

Required profile

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered General Nurse or equivalent.
• Post‑graduate diploma in Medical/Surgical Nursing and in Nursing Education (or equivalent accredited by SANC).
• Assessorship certification and knowledge of SANC regulations.
• Previous experience as an educator, facilitator or mentor is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and staff development.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Flexibility to work all shifts.
