Clinical Engineering Technician

About the role

The Clinical Engineering Technician will manage and maintain all medical equipment at Netcare Linksfield Hospital, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and Health Technology Regulations. This role supports safe and effective patient care through reliable equipment performance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the complete medical equipment inventory using the CMMS (SAP PM) system.
• Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and reactive maintenance activities.
• Capture detailed maintenance data – spares, labour, costs, and actions – in the CMMS.
• Perform commissioning tests and ensure new, demo, or loan equipment is bar‑coded and documented.
• Conduct six‑monthly equipment audits to verify CMMS accuracy.
• Develop a five‑year equipment replacement plan and obtain approval from hospital management.
• Liaise with suppliers for service contracts, quotations, and capital purchases.
• Implement policies and procedures directed by Netcare Technical Division.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical documentation.
• Good organisational skills to manage multiple equipment assets.
• Effective communication with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP PM.
• Knowledge of Health Technology Regulations and medical equipment standards.
• Experience conducting equipment audits and maintaining accurate records.
