Clinical Consultant – Medical & Nursing Expert

About the role

The Clinical Consultant will ensure best‑practice medical care for members by providing expert clinical guidance, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver proactive clinical advice to members, meeting daily KPIs for timely communication and assistance.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and allied health staff to align treatment plans with evidence‑based guidelines.
• Analyse and optimise operational processes such as bin‑management turn‑around time to improve efficiency.
• Monitor and report on adverse events, risk management activities and quality‑assurance metrics.
• Utilise health information systems and electronic health records (EHR) to track patient outcomes and support data‑driven decisions.

Required profile

• Recognised medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) *or* nursing degree (BSc Nursing) with advanced qualifications (NP, CNS, APN).
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• 3‑5 years of experience as a registered nurse practitioner or equivalent clinical role, including exposure to managed‑care environments.
• In‑depth knowledge of evidence‑based clinical guidelines, South African healthcare regulations and quality‑improvement methodologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
• Experience using Health Information Systems for clinical data management.
