Clerical Officer

About the role

The Clerical Officer provides essential administrative and clerical support to both clinical and non‑clinical staff, helping to keep the service running smoothly. This position is based within NHS Lanarkshire and involves regular interaction with patients, the public and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general reception duties, greeting visitors and handling phone enquiries.
• Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
• Maintain day‑to‑day departmental requirements to ensure smooth operations.
• Deal with enquiries face‑to‑face or by telephone from the public, patients and external agencies.
• Provide comprehensive administrative support to clinical and non‑clinical teams.

Required profile

• Educated to standard grade level or have experience in a similar role.
• Well‑developed interpersonal skills in customer care.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
