Clearing and Forwarding Coordinator – Export Logistics

About the role

IOEC is looking for a Clearing and Forwarding Coordinator to join its Cape Town office. The role ensures the smooth, compliant movement of export shipments through customs and other government agencies, supporting the company’s international brand distribution network.

Key responsibilities

• Manage customs clearance for export shipments, ensuring full compliance with regulations and documentation.
• Prepare and submit export documents, customs declarations, and advise on correct Incoterm usage.
• Obtain permits, SADCs, GSP, EUR1 certificates and other required authorisations.
• Coordinate with customs authorities, OGA departments (PPECB, DAFF, Port Health, State Vet, DTI, NRCS, ITAC) and internal teams to resolve clearance issues.
• Calculate and ensure payment of customs duties, taxes and related charges.
• Maintain accurate records of all clearing and forwarding activities and stay updated on regulatory changes.
• Assist with HS code verification, cargo dues authorisation and ensure the company remains in good standing with customs and OGAs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in customs clearance and forwarding coordination.
• Strong understanding of customs regulations and trade compliance.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
