Civil Engineer / Contracts Manager

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer / Contracts Manager to lead the commercial and contractual delivery of large‑scale civil infrastructure projects, primarily bulk water systems such as steel pipelines and concrete reservoirs. The role combines strong technical engineering knowledge with expert contract administration.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and administer construction contracts, ensuring legal compliance.
• Prepare tender documentation, evaluate bids, and support the selection of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor contract budgets, review payment applications, and negotiate variations, claims and compensation events.
• Manage claims and dispute resolution, preparing supporting documentation and negotiating settlements.
• Ensure all parties meet contractual obligations and maintain accurate contract records.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, legal advisors and project managers, providing contractual advice during meetings.
• Oversee change management, assessing cost and schedule impacts of variations.
• Administer project close‑out, final accounts, completion certificates and archive documentation.
