Chief Information Security Officer

About the role

AVBOB is seeking a seasoned Chief Information Security Officer to lead enterprise‑wide cyber security initiatives. You will shape the Group’s security strategy, protect digital assets, and ensure compliance with key regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an information security strategy aligned with business goals and digital innovation.
• Advise senior executives on balancing innovation with cyber risk.
• Drive secure adoption of cloud, AI and data‑analytics technologies.
• Identify, mitigate and respond to threats such as ransomware, data breaches and insider threats.
• Lead security assessments, technology deployments, compliance audits and real‑time threat investigations.
• Collaborate with ICT, PMO and Group Risk on enterprise‑wide security initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with POPIA, GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST, PCI‑DSS and CIS standards.
• Develop and enforce the Cyber Incident Response Plan and oversee disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity planning.
• Implement security awareness training and foster a culture of shared responsibility.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in information security, preferably as a CISO.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and cyber‑risk management.
• Ability to act as a trusted advisor to executive teams.
• Track record of delivering security programmes across large, complex organisations.
