Chief Executive Officer

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will provide enterprise leadership, strategic direction and executive accountability for Busamed, a South African private hospital group. Reporting to the Board, the CEO will drive sustainable growth, financial resilience, clinical quality and long‑term shareholder value across the hospital network.

Key responsibilities

• Set and communicate the strategic direction of Busamed in consultation with the Board and Executive Committee.
• Translate Board priorities into integrated business plans, operating models and capital plans.
• Lead the Executive Committee to align patient experience, commercial growth, finance, corporate services and clinical governance.
• Oversee hospital operations to ensure safe, efficient, patient‑centred and financially sustainable performance.
• Report to the Board on strategy, performance, risk, governance, growth, capital structure and clinical quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Finance, Medicine, Nursing or related field (NQF Level 7) – essential.
• Minimum 10 years of executive leadership experience in private healthcare or a related complex service industry.
• At least 8 years leading multi‑site operations with large workforces and professional stakeholder groups.
• Proven experience in Board, shareholder and senior stakeholder engagement, financial stewardship and P&L accountability.
• Experience in healthcare quality, clinical governance, patient safety and regulatory compliance.
