Chief Accountant

About the role

Volvo Group is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to lead the accounting function for its South EMEA legal entity. You will ensure accurate financial reporting in line with IFRS and local legislation while driving continuous improvement across financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of three financial accountants.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including manual journal entries and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Review and approve financial statements and ensure timely reporting to the Volvo Group.
• Monitor high‑risk financial statement items and implement effective daily controls.
• Act as the subject‑matter expert on accounting standards and provide technical support during the closing process.
• Collaborate with offshore Accounting Services teams, offering guidance and training.
• Contribute to the design and enhancement of internal control structures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably within a multinational environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local accounting regulations.
• Leadership capability to manage and motivate a small accounting team.
• Ability to make decisions while recognizing when broader stakeholder alignment is needed.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
