Charge Master Operator – Mining

About the role

The Charge Master Operator is responsible for loading the charge master with emulsion, transporting it to long‑hole stopes, conducting density tests and charging the stopes. This position supports safe and efficient mining operations at the South Deep Gold Mine.

Key responsibilities

• Load the charge master with emulsion tramming for long‑hole stopes.
• Perform density testing on the emulsion before charging.
• Conduct pre‑use equipment inspections using checklists and report any deficiencies.
• Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as topping up engine, water and hydraulic oil, checking for leaks and cleaning equipment.
• Execute end‑of‑shift procedures, including parking, cleaning and reporting to the supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental standards.
• Assist with any additional tasks required for effective operation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Charge Master Certificate and Dover B result.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a mining environment.
• Successful completion of Gold Fields security screening and medical fitness assessments.
• Strong personal safety record and ability to work collaboratively.
