About the role
The Chairperson of the Financial Misconduct Board will oversee investigations into alleged financial impropriety within the municipality, ensuring accountability and good governance. The appointment is for a three‑year term, renewable at the Council’s discretion, and remuneration follows National Treasury standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Council with investigations on allegations of financial misconduct and provide a report with clear recommendations on further steps, including disciplinary proceedings.
- Ensure compliance with Chapter 2 of the Municipal Regulation on Financial Misconduct and relevant provisions of the Local Government Municipal Finance Management Act.
Required profile
- Relevant Diploma or Degree in Law, Financial Management, Accounting, Internal Auditing, Risk Management or Forensic Auditing.
- Strong and dynamic leadership skills.
- Sound knowledge of legislation applicable to local government.
- Analytical reasoning ability.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Will be subjected to security vetting.
