Centre Manager – Retail Mall (Eastern Cape)

About the role

We are seeking a Centre Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of a newly built retail mall in a strategic rural/peri‑urban location of South Africa’s Eastern Cape. The role will serve as the primary on‑site representative, ensuring the centre opens smoothly and becomes a trusted hub for tenants, shoppers and the surrounding community.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily mall operations, including security, maintenance and facilities management.
• Manage relationships with tenants, service providers and local authorities.
• Act as the main point of contact between the property owners, tenants and community leaders.
• Monitor operational standards, health & safety compliance and risk management.
• Resolve conflicts and issues promptly while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
• Promote community integration and support local economic development initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail or mixed‑use property management.
• Strong people‑management abilities and a track record of building trust with diverse stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of the Eastern Cape region, with a desire to live or return to the area.
• Fluency in isiXhosa to engage effectively with tenants, staff and community members.
