Buyer & Designer – Fashion Accessories

About the role

Our client, a leading fashion accessories and FMCG brand, is looking for a dynamic Buyer and Designer to join their team in Durbanville. This hybrid position blends product sourcing, range development and hands‑on graphic design to bring fast‑fashion concepts from idea to shelf.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, source and negotiate fast‑moving fashion accessories, gift items and beauty tools with overseas suppliers, primarily in China.
• Build and manage product ranges for various retail formats, controlling pricing, MOQ and order timelines.
• Monitor sales performance, adjust orders and implement repeat or markdown strategies.
• Create accurate CAD drawings, mock‑ups and packaging artwork (hang tags, header cards, blister packs) in line with retailer guidelines.
• Design marketing visuals, look books and internal presentations to support product launches.
• Conduct trend and market research, develop mood boards, colour palettes and present concepts to senior management.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12; tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree) is an advantage.
• 3+ years experience in retail buying or product development within fashion.
• Strong commercial sense with ability to translate trends into mass‑market products.
• Experience managing Chinese suppliers, import timelines and costing.
• Excellent presentation, planning and communication skills.

Required skills

• Adobe Illustrator – essential for product CADs and tech packs.
• Adobe Photoshop – for retouching, marketing visuals and mock‑ups.
• Adobe InDesign – for layout of presentations, catalogues and look books.
• Microsoft Excel – budgeting, costing sheets and order tracking.
