Business Development Manager - Transport & Logistics

About the role

The company is a leading logistics and transport solutions provider seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager. The role focuses on expanding the business across FMCG, Mining, Building and Construction sectors in South Africa and the Sub‑Saharan region.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities.
• Develop and execute strategic business development plans.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
• Research market trends and identify growth opportunities.
• Manage tender submissions, RFQs and RFPs.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing and service agreements.
• Drive sales performance and achieve growth targets.
• Develop tailored logistics solutions to meet client needs.
• Maintain and grow existing client relationships.
• Conduct market analysis and competitor assessments.
• Collaborate with operational teams to deliver exceptional service solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years Business Development experience in transport, freight or logistics.
• Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Transport Economics, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Proven success in new business acquisition and revenue growth.
• Experience servicing clients in Mining, FMCG and/or Building & Construction sectors.
• Strong understanding of transport and logistics operations, including cross‑border and national transport.
• Experience with tenders, RFQs and RFP submissions.
• Knowledge of tautliner freight, side tipper and bulk haulage operations is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence.
