Business Development Manager – Pump & Irrigation

About the role

The Business Development Manager will lead growth initiatives for SALT’s pump and irrigation product range. You will build and nurture strategic partnerships with contractors, developers and engineering firms, driving sales through both direct channels and dealer networks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with commercial contractors, developers and engineering firms.
• Generate construction‑related business opportunities directly and via specialised dealer networks.
• Secure incremental sales across the full pump portfolio in diverse market segments.
• Provide commercial and technical support to the existing distribution network.
• Maintain accurate CRM records and document all customer interactions.
• Execute marketing and sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
• Identify, evaluate and pursue new business opportunities.
• Set performance targets for dealers and deliver day‑to‑day support and long‑term development guidance.
• Lead product presentations, technical seminars and represent the company at events and exhibitions.
• Monitor pricing policy and prepare customer‑ and region‑specific sales action plans.
• Feed market needs into product requirements and forecasting.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in technical solutions or equipment sales, preferably within an international organisation.
• Proven experience with pump products or a closely related technical product line.
• Strong technical background; degree in Engineering or Economics preferred.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Comfortable using sales reporting, CRM and business intelligence tools.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently.
• Goal‑driven, customer‑focused and strong communicator.
