Business Development Manager – East Africa

About the role

An established international manufacturer of safety technologies and controlled‑environment solutions is seeking a senior Business Development Manager to own and grow its East African sales portfolio. Based in Johannesburg, the role requires regular travel across the region to develop new markets, support customers, build distributor networks and oversee product commissioning and training.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a structured business development strategy for the East African region, identifying and securing new opportunities across mining, construction, tunnelling, petrochemical and related sectors.
• Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, quotations, negotiations, and order closure, while maintaining a strong pipeline and achieving regional sales budgets.
• Build and maintain long‑term relationships with customers, agents and distributors, providing technical guidance, product commissioning, training and after‑sales support.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ experience in business development or technical sales of plant, capital equipment or engineered solutions to mining, construction or petrochemical sectors.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets, managing a large geographical territory and handling complex technical solutions.
• Strong commercial negotiation skills and ability to engage senior executives, engineers and procurement teams.
