Business Development Manager – Construction & Mining Equipment

About the role

Our client, South Africa’s leading asset rental company, is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive sales of construction and mining equipment rentals. The role focuses on generating income by helping clients access, manage and replace high‑value assets through flexible rental finance, keeping their capital free and operations moving.

Key responsibilities

• Increase sales and short‑term rental of equipment while meeting profitability targets.
• Manage available sales stock and assess target channels for sales.
• Establish and grow client relationships across different market segments.
• Expand the online customer base and drive digital sales.
• Ensure a first‑class customer experience throughout the rental process.
• Grow the partner network and increase sales throughput.
• Develop and execute marketing initiatives to boost sales presence.
• Coordinate delivery of equipment to customers.
• Report weekly sales performance and objectives to business leaders.
• Leverage internal and external digital platforms to enhance sales effectiveness.

Required profile

• Proven sales track record or clear evidence of strong sales ability.
• Ability to translate customer needs into business objectives.
• Intermediary accounting knowledge and financial acumen.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Networking aptitude and attention to detail.
• Strong administration and customer service capabilities.
• Good numerical ability and self‑management skills.
• Project management experience.
• Own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.
• Matric qualification; university degree or diploma in IT asset management is an advantage.
• Demonstrated capability in selling to companies and state‑owned enterprises.
