Business Development Executive – Mining & Metallurgy

About the role

The Business Development Executive will drive new revenue growth across the mining and mineral processing sectors in South Africa and the wider African market. The role combines technical metallurgical expertise with a strong commercial focus to secure new clients and expand existing accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, pursue and close new business opportunities in gold, copper and other mineral processing projects across Africa.
• Build and maintain a structured pipeline, targeting junior and mid‑tier mining companies.
• Develop relationships with Metallurgical Managers, Plant Managers, Technical Directors, COOs and CEOs.
• Represent the company at industry events such as Mining Indaba and regional forums.
• Generate qualified leads through networking, referrals and direct client engagement.
• Manage and grow existing accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
• Identify revenue streams from plant upgrades, process optimisation, capacity expansions and modular processing solutions.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals, conduct site assessments and support negotiations to contract award.
• Monitor market trends in gold, copper, tailings retreatment and off‑grid processing, providing strategic intelligence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in mineral processing, metallurgy, business development or sales.
• Proven ability to operate in a client‑facing, commercial capacity.
• Strong network within the African mining sector.
