Business Development Consultant – Corporate Skills Development

About the role

The Business Development Consultant will drive sustainable revenue growth for B4i Academy by identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities within the corporate skills development and training market. You will manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting to closing, and act as a trusted advisor on workforce development, SETA and B‑BBEE requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities nationally, focusing on medium and large organisations with turnover above R50 million.
• Generate leads, maintain a qualified pipeline and secure meetings with decision‑makers.
• Conduct needs analysis, develop tailored training solutions and prepare proposals.
• Negotiate terms and close sales while ensuring alignment with client Skills Development priorities.
• Build and expand professional networks within corporate, HR and transformation environments.
• Identify cross‑selling and repeat‑business opportunities to maximise client value.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development or sales, preferably within corporate training, Skills Development or related sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to engage senior stakeholders in medium‑to‑large organisations.
• Target‑driven mindset with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Skills Development, SETA and B‑BBEE regulations.
• Ability to translate client workforce development needs into commercial training solutions.
• Strong analytical and proposal‑writing capabilities.
