Bulk Materials Handling Engineer

About the role

SENET is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specialised in Bulk Material Handling to ensure technical integrity across the project lifecycle. The role involves delivering safe, compliant designs that meet client specifications and operate reliably under adverse conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Incorporate client specifications into design criteria and maintain compliance throughout the project.
• Create, review and update discipline‑specific technical specifications.
• Manage technical integrity of plant layout from concept to execution.
• Coordinate with other engineers and discipline leads to ensure effective information transfer.
• Sign off engineering deliverables, including designs, calculations, models and drawings.
• Prepare material take‑offs, bills of quantities and procurement packages.
• Attend multidisciplinary reviews and provide feedback on Navisworks files.
• Support expediting, inspection and change‑request processes.
• Coach junior engineers and supervise draftspersons to minimise rework.

Required profile

• BSc (or BEng/B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in bulk material handling design and calculation.
• Strong understanding of safety standards such as RAMBOE.
• Ability to manage schedules, cost forecasts and man‑hour estimates.

Required skills

• Mechanical engineering design for bulk material handling systems.
• Design calculations and material take‑off preparation.
• Proficiency with Navisworks and MS Project for project coordination.
• Knowledge of RAMBOE safety standards.
• Experience preparing procurement packages and cost forecasts.
