Broker Consultant - Durban

About the role

Our client, a leading short‑term insurer specialising in HCV insurance, is seeking a confident, high‑energy Broker Consultant to join their dynamic team in Gillitts.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, support and grow the short‑term insurance broker portfolio.
• Educate brokers and clients on the company’s strategy, value proposition and products.
• Schedule and conduct regular broker engagements, both physical and virtual.
• Assess broker needs to identify market opportunities and portfolio gaps.
• Drive sales growth across new and existing broker portfolios.
• Maintain SLA and corporate identity compliance.
• Manage portfolio risk and loss ratios in line with regional guidelines.
• Keep brokers informed on underwriting and regulatory changes.
• Present portfolio performance, data and trends at business meetings.
• Ensure accurate documentation and efficient handover to administration.
• Screen upcoming renewals and advise on required adjustments.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric with completed Regulatory Examination (RE5/RE1).
• Full Short‑Term Insurance Qualification (FAIS compliant, NQF Level 4/5, minimum 120 credits).
• Minimum 5 years’ broker consulting experience, preferably from an insurer’s perspective.
• Strong knowledge of commercial lines and HCV insurance.
• Valid South African driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
• Full bilingual ability in English and Afrikaans is an advantage.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office.
