Boilershop Manager

About the role

Our client in the mining sector is seeking an experienced Boilershop Manager to lead a busy workshop in Kempton Park, Gauteng. The role involves overseeing the fabrication of pressure vessels, structural steel, piping and heavy plate work while ensuring safety, quality and productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and coordinate workshop production activities.
• Supervise a team of boilermakers, welders and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, welding procedures and quality standards.
• Manage quality control, non‑destructive testing (NDT) and health & safety requirements.
• Maintain workshop resources, inventory and ERP/maintenance management systems.
• Drive continuous improvement in fabrication processes and workshop efficiency.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with a Trade Test Certificate as a Boilermaker (Red Seal).
• 5+ years experience in a boilershop or heavy‑engineering environment.
• 3‑5 years experience in a supervisory or management role.
• Valid driver’s licence, no criminal record and medically fit.
• Preferably a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Management.
• Additional qualifications such as CSWIP/IIW welding inspector or supervisory training are advantageous.
