BIM Modeller (SmartPlant 3D)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced BIM Modeller proficient in Hexagon SmartPlant 3D to join our Power and Energy team in Midrand, South Africa. You will create and maintain intelligent 3‑D plant models for large‑scale power and industrial projects across Southern Africa and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain coordinated 3‑D plant models using Hexagon Smart 3D (SmartPlant 3D/SP3D).
• Model equipment, piping, structures, electrical systems, cable trays, HVAC and related components as required by project scope.
• Interpret P&IDs, engineering layouts, specifications, calculations and vendor data to ensure accurate modelling.
• Apply project catalogues, naming conventions and modelling procedures consistently.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary models, resolve interface issues and perform interference/clash checks.
• Generate and verify model‑derived plans, sections, isometrics, schedules, reports and material take‑offs.
• Maintain model accuracy, revision control and approved project configurations.
• Support model reviews, site verification, design changes and as‑built updates.

Required profile

• National Diploma, Higher Certificate or equivalent qualification in Engineering Draughting, Plant Design, BIM or a related field.
• Approximately 5 years of hands‑on experience in 3‑D plant modelling or engineering draughting within power, energy, process plant or multidisciplinary EPC projects.
• Proven expertise with Hexagon Smart 3D, SmartPlant 3D or SP3D.
• Experience in at least one modelling discipline such as equipment, piping, structural, civil, electrical, cable tray or HVAC.
• Knowledge of multidisciplinary coordination, interference checking, design review and revision control.
