Bid Manager – Cape Town

About the role

Our client, a leading strategy and management consulting firm, is seeking a senior Bid Manager to drive high‑value proposals across public‑sector, donor‑funded and infrastructure projects. The role combines business development, proposal strategy and team leadership to ensure winning bids.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end bid processes from qualification through submission, ensuring governance, review cycles and timely delivery.
• Develop win themes, value propositions, differentiators and pricing strategies to strengthen bid positioning.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, procurement rules, commercial reviews, SHEQ checks and senior approvals.
• Enhance bid operating model by maintaining reusable content libraries, templates, bid systems and AI‑enabled support workflows.
• Mentor and manage the bid team, set performance standards and build bid management capability.
• Track opportunities, pipeline health, debriefs, risks and lessons learned to provide clear visibility of bid performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex bid, proposal or tender processes in consulting, professional services or donor‑funded environments.
• Demonstrated senior ownership of bid strategy, go/no‑go decisions, governance and final submission accountability.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary contributors, technical experts and senior stakeholders under tight deadlines.
• Strong writing and editing skills for executive summaries and proposal sections.
• Familiarity with public‑sector or international procurement processes (World Bank, EU, USAID, etc.).
