BI Analyst (SQL Focused) – East Rand

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Analyst with a strong focus on SQL to join our data team in Johannesburg. The role involves turning raw data into actionable insights that support strategic decision‑making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimise and maintain complex SQL queries for reporting and analytical purposes.
• Design and maintain relational data models that support business intelligence solutions.
• Extract, transform and analyse large data sets to uncover trends and patterns.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver clear, data‑driven recommendations.
• Support and enhance dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau.
• Monitor and improve database performance and query efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience writing advanced SQL (joins, aggregations, subqueries, optimisation).
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts.
• Hands‑on experience with data modelling.
• Excellent analytical and critical‑thinking abilities with high attention to detail.
