Bare Developer – Cross‑Platform Runtime Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Bare Developer to join a partner company’s remote engineering team. The role focuses on building and evolving a lightweight, cross‑platform runtime and its ecosystem of native modules, bridging C and JavaScript to expose OS‑level capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain native modules in C and JavaScript, owning the full lifecycle from implementation to production deployment.
• Implement cross‑platform system integrations (Bluetooth, networking, filesystem, cryptography) via JavaScript APIs.
• Maintain and improve cross‑compilation toolchains and CI pipelines for macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
• Contribute to the runtime core, enhancing module systems and native addon architecture.
• Debug complex, multi‑OS issues to ensure stability, performance, and reliability of native modules.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience in C programming and low‑level system development.
• Advanced JavaScript expertise with solid understanding of runtime internals.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in a distributed, writing‑heavy engineering culture.
• Excellent written communication skills.
