Banking Product Design & Product Manager (6‑month project)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced banking product management consultant to join a six‑month project in Johannesburg. Working directly with the client’s Chief Product Officer, you will translate customer research and experience design concepts into concrete, commercially viable banking product propositions.

Key responsibilities

• Support the CPO in designing new banking products, turning research insights into executable specifications.
• Develop detailed product documentation covering descriptions, features, mechanics, operating models and business rules.
• Define pricing structures, funding mechanisms and, for credit products, shape credit rules, scorecard requirements and risk considerations.
• Collaborate with business owners, subject‑matter experts and the Experience Design team to validate and iteratively refine designs.
• Prepare stakeholder‑ready documentation, incorporate feedback and publish final specifications as part of the delivery team.

Required profile

• Strong, hands‑on product management experience within banking, with a proven track record of designing or launching banking products.
• Deep understanding of banking product mechanics, business rules and commercial considerations.
• Experience producing detailed product specifications and translating customer needs into actionable designs.
• Ability to define and refine product pricing and business rules.
