Banking Clerk / Bookkeeper – Finance Controller Role

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Banking Clerk / Bookkeeper to join the finance team of a leading property management and hospitality company in Sandton, Gauteng. The role involves managing high‑volume transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month‑end reporting across multiple business units.

Key responsibilities

• Import revenue, debtor, cash, credit‑card and direct‑deposit transactions and reconcile them between Opera PMS and Pastel/Sage.
• Process daily cash‑book entries, perform bank reconciliations and manage petty‑cash transactions.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, including creditor reconciliations, age analysis, payment loading and collections support.
• Prepare and post journals, review operating and F&B stock journals, and reconcile purchases to the General Ledger.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations, clear suspense accounts, and investigate unusual transactions.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end financial processing, budget‑vs‑actual reporting and monthly management reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 (Matric); a qualification in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping is advantageous.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Finance Controller, Banking Clerk or similar bookkeeping role.
• Proven experience with Pastel, Sage and Opera PMS.
• Strong ability to balance books and ensure financial accuracy.
