Bandsaw Operator

About the role

The Bandsaw Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining a bandsaw machine to cut metal and other materials to precise dimensions as defined by work orders. This position works within a busy manufacturing and warehousing environment, ensuring high quality and adherence to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload materials onto the bandsaw, set cutting parameters, and follow work instructions.
• Inspect cuts for accuracy, report defects, and investigate non‑conformances.
• Perform routine blade cleaning, lubrication, tension adjustments, and report any malfunctions.
• Interpret work orders, measure and mark materials using calipers, rulers, and tape measures.
• Handle heavy materials safely and support warehouse activities such as stock‑taking and off‑cut control.
• Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE, and maintain a clean work area.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
• Matric qualification.
• Forklift licence is advantageous.
• Valid medical certificate.
