Backend Developer – Build Scalable Server‑Side Applications

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain high‑performing server‑side applications, APIs, and databases. You will work closely with front‑end engineers and product teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that power seamless user experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimise backend systems and server‑side applications.
• Design, implement and manage RESTful APIs, databases and overall application architecture.
• Build scalable, secure and high‑performance services.
• Collaborate with front‑end developers and cross‑functional teams to integrate user‑facing components.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Optimise database queries and overall application performance.
• Implement security and data‑protection best practices.
• Participate in testing, deployment and code‑review processes.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Backend Developer, Software Engineer or similar role.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, Go (any of these backend languages).
• Design and consumption of RESTful APIs.
• SQL and/or NoSQL database expertise.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Version control with Git.
• Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines or DevOps practices.
• Microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Automated testing and software development best practices.
