Automation & Control Systems Engineer – Mining & Mineral Processing

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Automation & Control Systems Engineer to join our engineering team in Johannesburg. The role focuses on designing, programming, commissioning and managing industrial automation and process control systems for mining and mineral processing plants.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial control panels and automation solutions.
• Program, test and commission PLC and HMI systems.
• Modify and improve control systems for process equipment such as ball mills, scrubbers, vibrating screens and conveyor systems.
• Lead commissioning activities and manage refurbishment or upgrade projects within processing plants.
• Develop testing procedures, troubleshoot, and optimise existing automation systems.
• Analyse operational data, prepare technical reports and ensure compliance with health & safety and quality standards.

Required profile

• BEng/BTech in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or Automation Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in industrial automation or process plant environments.
• Proven experience with PLC and HMI programming, MCCs, VSDs, instrumentation and industrial networks.
