Audit Trainee

About the role

This entry‑level Audit Trainee position offers a solid foundation in audit, accounts and tax work while supporting you to achieve an AAT or ACCA qualification. Based in the Wembley office of Cape Town, you will work UK‑style hours, Monday to Friday, in a collaborative, office‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist semi‑senior and senior team members on audit, accounts and tax assignments.
• Participate in audit fieldwork, including planning, execution and reporting.
• Update engagement leaders on audit progress and complete audit programmes.
• Analyse, summarise and reconcile client accounting records.
• Prepare basic sets of accounts, corporation tax returns and VAT returns.
• Support the preparation and submission of more complex accounts and tax filings.
• Carry out associated administrative tasks and adhere to internal procedures.

Required profile

• Enrolled or intending to enrol in an AAT or ACCA qualification.
• Strong interest in audit, financial reporting and tax compliance.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate professionally with clients.
• Commitment to high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Understanding of audit procedures and financial reporting standards.
• Basic knowledge of corporation tax and VAT filing requirements.
• Familiarity with accounting software for data entry and reconciliation.
